Mandatory Modules

- To enable learners to understand sociological concepts of health and illness, their application in care practices, and how contemporary societal factors influence perceptions of health and ill health.
- To explore how societal structures, including age, gender, ethnicity, social class, and family dynamics, impact health, well-being, and life chances.
2. Communicating in Health and Social Care (H/505/9495): 20 UK Credits/ 10 ECTS Credits.
- Understand key communication skills and their application in healthcare settings.
- Analyze barriers to communication and explore methods to overcome them.
3. An Introduction to Healthcare Policy (F/505/9505): 20 UK Credits/ 10 ECTS Credits.
- Explore the historical and contemporary influences on healthcare policy.
- Assess the impact of healthcare policies on service delivery and user experience.
4. Reflective Practice (F/505/9519): 20 UK Credits/ 10 ECTS Credits.
- To introduce learners to reflective practice as a key concept in health and social care, emphasizing the connection between self-development and the application of theory to practice.
- To enable learners to develop personal and professional growth plans, equipping them with the skills to integrate research and evidence-based practices into their care delivery.
5. Managing People in Health and Social Care (L/505/9507): 20 UK Credits/ 10 ECTS Credits.
- Learn recruitment, management, and development of teams in healthcare.
- Evaluate change management processes and their application in healthcare.
6. Academic Study Skills (T/505/9498): 20 UK Credits/10 ECTS Credits.
- Develop essential academic skills, including reflective and critical thinking.
- Enhance learning potential through effective study techniques and portfolio creation.
Assignments
- Complete 6 written assignments (2,000–3,000 words each) based on the module titles.
